hangin' out

We love to hang out together,
with our big sis,

as baby burritos,
with our big sis and bro in our pjs... hey wait...

...what in the world are these "nighty" things?
Are we wearing dresses? Not cool mom & dad!

Our August adventures w/ Uncle Joey & Aunt Jessie...

Joey and Jessie came for a visit and we had a wonderful time. Hopefully we haven't completely scared them away from having children!
They were great guests, great help and great fun!
Meeting Oliver and Sulllivan...

Oliver looked pretty chill hangin' out with his Uncle...

Ryan and Sullivan were exhausted after chatting with our guests...
Uncle Joey and Aunt Jessie were quickly introduced to our weekly movie night and thoroughly enjoyed the movie Space Buddies:)
These are some of our favorite spots...
Eastern Market for some yummy breakfast...

this kids favorite park...

Old Town Market...
Ryan, Joey, Jessie, Adrienne and Cooper enjoyed a night of Cosmic Bowling
Where a kid can be a kid!

Ryan says that everything that's wrong in the world is Chuck E Cheese. The kids beg to go all the time. Ryan was out of town for work so we went with Joey and Jessie. We went in the early evening and it really wasn't too bad, but it started getting crazy crowded and when it gets that way I tend to agree with Ryan!
I'm still not sure what roads Joey took to get to the Air and Space Museum, but somehow a 30 minute drive to closer to 2 hours! Cooper was able to get in a good nap before they finally made it there. He had a blast with his Aunt and Uncle and I enjoyed a little peace and quiet with just the babies at home!

Gravely Point is one of our favorite places to take a picnic.... hang out by the Potomac, eat, play some soccer (no more kite flying though after the cop yelled at us that it was a 'no fly zone' really? our kite was interfering with the planes?) and watch the planes fly right over us. When we went with Joey and Jessie the planes seemed SO loud... I was worried about the boys and I covered their poor little ears!

Joey and Jessie got us some tickets to go up in the Washington Monument, which we haven't done since Adrienne was about 6 months old and Cooper has never been up in it (or as Cooper would say, "and I was still in heaven")

Bethany Beach, Delaware

We had planned to go to the beach for at least a day when Joey and Jessie were here. Ryan ended up going to Chicago for work during the time I thought we'd go (SOOOOO nice to have Joey and Jessie there to help out while he was gone!) Luckily he was able to take off Monday, August17th so we could all go. We packed up our 8 passenger van with the 8 of us and were off. Three hours later we made it to the beach.

Believe you me, if Joey and Jessie weren't there to help with the big kids Ryan and I would have lasted 5 minutes! Between the sand, heat, dragging a double stroller through the sand, two endlessly hungry babies, two hyperactive children, Cooper's endless potty trips, trying to keep the sand out of the food and a smile on our face... we needed all hand on deck! The ratio of one adult to one child was needed!

After playing in the waves all day we hit a candy/ice cream shop for some treats!

10 years and 4 kids later

We had our 10th Anniversary August 7th... wow 10 years! Our trip to Florida in April was for our Anniversary. We planned to go out to dinner and kept it low key... Ryan kept it so low key Adrienne had to remind it was our Anniversary. He knew it was coming up, but hadn't realized the 7th had already crept up on him. oops

It was nice to go out just the two of us and were so grateful for Uncle Joey and Aunt Jessie being in town so we could (good timing guys). We went to one of our favorite restaurants called the District Chophouse. (check out the onion rings)

On the way in to the Chophouse we noticed a little cupcake shop called Red Velvet and stopped by after dinner for some dessert.
We went over to the Sculpture Garden on the Mall and ate some of our cupcakes (yummy!) and people watched. It was a nice evening.
